Caring About Equality:

This week, we want to highlight the challenges you face and recognise the contribution you make to families and communities. Our partners mission is to ensure that no unpaid carer in our region feels:
Invisible
Unsupported
Alone
Across the UK, millions of people provide unpaid care for someone. Without your dedication, our health and care services would struggle to cope.
Carers should have the same life chances and opportunities as everybody else. Carers need recognition, rights, and real support that meets their needs and protects their future.
Did You Know?
Carers UK research found that 2.6 million people have given up work to care – that’s 600 people a day.
Carers UK State of Caring 2024 survey found that 73% of carers in employment said they had found it stressful to juggle work and care.
75% of carers registered are living with a long-term health condition such as high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, or heart disease.
A Carers UK survey found that 51% of carers in the UK report that their financial situation is negatively affecting their mental health. In addition, 61% of carers feel stressed or anxious when they think about their finances.
Behind every classroom or sports club, there may be a young carer juggling school, friendships, and responsibilities most their age never face.
Being a young carer can be an isolating experience but having the right support in place can give young carers a better chance of succeeding in all parts of their lives.
